Chicago Patient Safety Forum and Northern Illinois Physicians For Connectivity have united for the shared purpose of improving patient safety in Illinois through the use of medical records technology.
The two organizations have brought together experts in healthcare informatics to write a white paper to empower consumers in their own care. We believe this goal can be achieved by categorizing personal health record choices available to consumers in Illinois and propose solutions that will allow consumers to share their personal health records information electronically with their healthcare providers. The white paper will also discuss the barriers that currently exist to widespread adoption of personal health records technology and possible solutions to ensure that all Illinoisans have access to a longitudinal electronic personal health record.
